Y3/4 Pupils have a go at Sports Hall Athletics!

Recently a Sports Hall Athetics event was put on for the current Y3/4 pupils in school to get them excited for the Sports Hall Athletics competition for when they move into Y5 .  The children got to learn about all the different events and have a go at them all to find their favourite for when they enter.  It was a great day out for all the children and had some incredibly positive feedback!

Here is a great quote from Jo Searle, Phillimore School:

Just wanted to say that I thought the session at the EIS on the 29th Jan was amazing, possibly one of the best days I’ve taken kids to and definitely worth giving up a day off for. The organisation was superb, the idea of coaching the children in the morning in all events, giving school staff the results to enable them to pull a team together and then giving everyone the experience of a full sportshall competition was ingenious. It gave the Y4s who have not been involved before a taste of what is to come in Y5 and for those who have never ‘qualified’ for the team a real sense of achievement and allowed them to do what they’ve wanted to do ie represent the school. There was an amazing buzz as we walked back to school.
We hope to run this event next year and get even more children enthusiastic about Sports Hall Athletics in Y5!
