SEND Ice Day
Thursday 14th February marked an SEND Ice Day! We had over 50 students with SEND take part in an Ice Skating and Curling event. The event took place at Ice Sheffield, with specialist Curling staff from SIV delivering the curling, and students from UTC and Links SSP Placement students from Sheffield Hallam University supporting the students who were ice skating.
It was brilliant to see so many people engaged in these two winter sports. There was lots of resilience demonstrated from the students as although there were a few tumbles – they got up straight away, and kept on skating! The very quickly developed the skills to turn from bambi on Ice to looking like they were on the road to Dancing on Ice!
We had some fantastic curlers too! All the schools took part in the curling, with some of the participants pushing the stones, and some of the students sweeping infront to help their friends stones glide!
It was also amazing to see the new frienships being created as they helped each other up when they saw someone fall, and motivated each other to keep going!
Well done to everyone involved, it was an incredible event, with incredible people!
