Matalan TOP Sport:

getting more young people taking part in PE and sport
In partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, Matalan TOP Sport (part of Matalan Sporting Promise) supports PE and sport in primary schools. The new look Matalan TOP Sport resources have been designed to help teachers unlock the potential of all children in PE at Key Stage 2; developing of their thinking, physical and social skills, while enhancing their health and well-being.

Primary Leadership:

We have created a fresh approach to leadership in PE that will enable young people to develop their own leadership role in other aspects of school life. It encourages young people in Key Stage 2 to step forward, develop their skills and realise their leadership potential.

We are offering the opportunity to attend a free workshop on:

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
•identify with the key features and characteristics of the Matalan TOP Sport programme and resources
•adapt activities to include and develop all young people.
•apply and utilise the resources to engage young people in their learning and improve their physical competency
•demonstrate the use of higher order questions to support children’s learning.
•demonstrate how to develop young peoples’ cognitive, creative, social and personal skills through physical activities.
•apply and integrate the Active Leader resource to develop leadership skills in PE lessons.
•describe Matalan’s Sporting Promise and related programmes.

Each delegate will receive a free Matalan TOP Sport resource pack and Active Leaders resource*
*One set per primary school

This course is tutored by Sarah Williams, Senior Lecturer at Sheffiled Hallam University. The reports from last year were that this course was well worth attending so please get in quick to avoid disapointment. Thanks and hopefully see you on the 23 Nov.
