Across 3 days, a plethora of sports days aimed at primary students in years 1,2 and 3 were held at the prestigious English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. A wide range of schools across the city gathered at the athletics track to participate in a number of activities that had been set out by the Links staff that would require a different athletic skill to master. Each of the year groups were allocated a different day in the week to come down to the EIS and compete with other surrounding schools in a bid to claim the title of Links Sports Day 2018 Champions.

The sporting activities began at 10am sharp, whereby each school descended upon the sports track and eagerly dashed towards their first challenge. Each of the 3 sports days ran like clockwork for their duration with every team swiftly moving to the next activity after 3 minutes of exhausting, energetic exercise, stopping only for a spot of lunch once the clock struck 1pm.

After lunch had concluded, the afternoon picked up where the morning had left with each competing team completing the tasks in front of them with maximum effort. Complemented by some epic tunes over the speakers, the activities presented gave competitors (and occasionally the teachers!) a chance to show just why sport and physical activity can be both beneficial to our health, but also equally as engaging and enjoyable.

Following a tasteful award ceremony to wrap-up proceedings and tally up the scores, each of the teams were invited to rest and recover in the stands to eagerly await the results. After the results were verified, certificates were handed out and volunteers were rewarded with a colossal applause, the participating schools departed the English Institute of Sport feeling well and truly satisfied.
