With the summer Olympics and Paralympics now over it is time for our attention to turn to the Winter Olympics in 2014.  In 2014 the Winter Games will take place in Sochi in Russia.  This will be the most compact Games in all Olympic history with all the venues being within minutes of each other.  All the same venues will also be used for the Paralympic Winter games as well.

The Olympic Games in Sochi will be holding events in 15 disciplines of 7 winter sports:

  • Biathlon
  • Bobsleigh: Bobsleigh and Skeleton
  • Curling
  • Ice Hockey
  • Luge
  • Skating: Figure Skating, Short Track Speed Skating and Speed Skating
  • Skiing: Alpine, Cross Country, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping, Freestyle and Snowboard

The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games will be holding events in five winter sports:

  • Alpine Skiing
  • Biathlon
  • Cross-Country Skiing
  • Ice Sledge Hockey
  • Wheelchair Curling
